Madelyn started acting with the Missoula Children's Theater when she was in kindergarten (she was cast as a Raccoon in Red Riding Hood). This theater is a tremendous resource not only to the Missoula community, but also the the country, and now to other parts of the world, as the theater sends teams of actors to smaller communities to put together a play in a weeks' time. It is an exciting process and the kids just love it. The community productions give the kids such a sense of belonging, an opportunity to take risks, and to gro as actors and performers. They're in the process of starting the first performing arts high school, in conjunction with the community school district...it will be the first time a non-profit has teemed up with a public school district to create such a partnership. It's really exciting. Madelyn got her first lead role as Helen Keller in The Miracle Worker this past spring. It was a defining moment for her. She even dot the chance to meet Patty Duke when she was in Missoula this fall and to have a chat with her about the performance. Her life on the stage has truly been magical, and if we didn't have MCT here in town I don't know what we'd do.
